Whatever side of the table you sit with your thoughts on the government, the USDA plays a key role in the United States agricultural industry. One of my favorite things to read on Twitter is farmers thoughts from around the country about the USDA. Sometimes they are positive and sometimes not - but always entertaining! I find myself utilizing the USDA website for various projects and information.

In March of 2019, in celebration of National Ag Day, the USDA launched a website designed specifically for youth in agriculture.

The front page of website does a good job of engaging users. It defines a clear purpose and showcases youth in a professional setting. It goes on to ask the reader why care about agriculture? It allows for reflection while providing an opportunity for the user to dig deeper and think about their role within the ag industry.

"The food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the fuel that powers our lives is produced with agriculture. The future of agriculture is reliant on the next generation of innovators, communicators, producers, educators and leaders."

Quote from the front page of the website.

I am firm believer in the power of words. I think when used appropriately and genuinely they can influence generations. Education is very important in my life. As a current student myself learning about agriculture; having resources such as this website allow me to feel confident in promoting the agricultural industry. These words hold a powerful message for those that choose to read them. They are placed in an easy-to-see spot and again, allow for the user to reflect on their role within the industry.

Overall, I think this website is a great tool for young folks in ag. It provides a way to access resources specifically tailored to youth. One of my favorite quotes is: 'invest in youth, to invest in farming, to invest in the future.' By investing in our youth and showing them the opportunities within agriculture, we can insure food and fiber production for generations to come.

As always, thank you for reading.
