Saydee Longhurst aka me, the author of this whole setup *wink*
I am excited to introduce a project/assignment I am working on while taking a course to fulfill my college education requirements. This summer I decided to take several summer courses to help better myself while working on my degree. I chose a plant science class and a farm literature and culture course. It was a last minute decision which I have been happy with (most days, my planner stays filled to the brim with to-dos)! Overall, I have loved the content I'm learning and then using in my everyday life. I've been identifying plants left and right on the ditch banks behind my house while changing water - thank you, PSC 2600 (plant science).
In my farm literature course we are tasked with the assignment of creating a blog while researching a topic related to agriculture. I was so stoked about this! I knew I already had The Girl On The Tractor blog established and was looking forward to adding a new feature to it.
Which brings me to the purpose of this specific post. Many of you are familiar with my deep passion for agriculture. It's no secret that I love everything to do with the industry. Being able to grow up on a first-generation family farm played a vital role in my upbringing as a human being. The values and life lessons taught on a farm can't be learned anywhere else. I find myself reflecting back daily, on things I learned from the seat of a tractor or out in the field. I hope to convey my thoughts in an understandable manner while connecting folks with the agricultural industry. I specifically want to focus on youth and young adults in agriculture. I am studying agricultural education with the hope of entering the high school classroom after I graduate. There are so many great resources and avenues of learning to engage students of all ages in agriculture. I hope to showcase those through this Farm Blog Research Project.
As always, thank you for reading.
