...amber waves of grain, America, God shed His grace on thee.

My favorite holiday of the entire year happened this past weekend. I have always loved the 4th of July. My birthday happens to fall the day before so I grew up always feeling the like the entire two days were one gigantic party. As I have grown older I have come to appreciate my citizenship in this great nation and the opportunity I have to celebrate it each summer. Independence day is also closely associated with 1st crop hay production. This year has been nothing short of challenging when trying to put up our hay, which seems to be the chosen theme for 2020. We, unfortunately, had several rainstorms in a short amount of time that have pushed back our usual efficiency. For my dad a perfect hay making day includes freshly baled hay from that night in the stack by the following evening with the water flowing. We are hoping to get the water back on by the first of next week. (pssst, hint hint for next week's blog post)

For this week, I choose to include links to six articles regarding American Agriculture. I have included the title and the website link, so feel free to read at your pleasure. I am always amazed at the enduring attitude of American farmers. They can get knocked to their knees and still come back a fighting. I credit this to the old saying: Faith, Family, Farming. American farmers are not afraid to recognize God's hand when it comes to their crops and livestock and it takes everyone in the fam to get the job done and without farming we would all be straight outta luck.

Number One: Fast Facts About Agriculture & Food

Number Two: The Economic Contribution of America's Farmers

Number Three: History of American Agriculture

Number Four: Top Ten Agriculture Stories From 2018

Number Five: Four Countries That Produce The Most Food

Number Six: Success Stories

I hope you will take the time this week to reflect on what American agriculture means to you and the role it plays in your everyday life. For me, I wouldn't really have a life without it.
